On the statement made by the Public Security Minister of the Israeli occupation Gilad Erdan that he would impose new punitive measures against the Palestinian detainees in the Israeli jails, the Palestinian Prisoners Movement states the following:

The Israeli occupation announced punitive measures against the Palestinian detainees held in the Israeli jails on Wednesday, January 3, 2019, and they constitute a new violation against the detainees.

This move is a declaration of war against the Palestinian detainees and marks a start of an uprising inside the Israeli jails against the occupation’s policies. Backed with the Palestinian people, the Arab countries, and the free people of the world, the Palestinian detainees will fight off the Israeli crimes and violations against them.

In addition, the Palestinian Prisoners Movement stresses the following points:

1. The Palestinian detainees face a new wave of suppression that poses a real life threat to all the Palestinian detainees in the Israeli jails.
2. The Israeli occupation has never provided good living conditions for the Palestinian detainees in the Israeli jails. It violates all the ‘freedom prisoners’ rights guaranteed by international laws and conventions.
3. The Israeli announcement is intended to exploit the suffering of the Palestinian detainees in the Israeli jails in order to promote election propaganda.
4. The Palestinian detainees from all factions will stand united in face of this announcement.
5. We call on the Palestinian people along with all the free people of the world to support our freedom struggle against the Israeli occupation and its policies.
