The issue of the Palestinian detainees in the Israeli jails is a national responsibility that all factions and segments of the Palestinian people have to shoulder, Hamas leader Maher Sabra said Tuesday.

During a sit-in held in Gaza in solidarity with the Palestinian detainees, Sabra added that the Palestinian resistance was committed to releasing Palestinian prisoners from the Israeli jails in any future ‘prisoner swap’ deal.

Regarding the measures taken by Israeli Prison Service against the Palestinian detainees, Sabra said that such practices are aimed at piling pressure on the Palestinian resistance to waive its demands.

Sabra reiterated the necessity for the Palestinian people to mobilise support for the Palestinian detainees in the Israeli jails.

The Hamas leader called on all concerned institutions to intervene immediately to put an end to the arbitrary Israeli measures against the Palestinian prisoners.

He also urged the Palestinian Authority to present a dossier of Israeli violations against the Palestinian detainees to the International Criminal Court.
