On the resignation of the Palestinian Authority Government led by Rami Hamdallah, the Hamas spokesperson Fawzi Barhoum stated the following:

The Hamdallah-led government has considerably deepened the internal division and undermined the higher interests of the Palestinian people.

Indeed, the resignation is intended to exchange roles with Fatah and PA President Mahmoud Abbas. It aims to pave the way for a separatist government that serves the Abbas and Fatah’s agenda only.

Therefore, the Palestinian people currently need a national unity government and a consensual national council. In addition, the general elections: presidential, parliamentary, and national council elections, must be held.
