Member of Hamas Political Bureau Mosa Abu Marzouq revealed on Sunday reasons behind not having a final joint statement following Moscow talks.

In a tweet, Abu Marzouq confirmed that the Palestinian factions agreed on a joint statement that was sent to the Palestinian Embassy in Moscow for publication, but all the participating Palestinian groups were shocked by new changes made on the statement that had not been agreed upon.

Abu Marzouq added that Fatah refused to remove the new changes added without consulting the Palestinian factions. Therefore, Hamas and other factions declined to sign the agreement for this reason.

“We agreed not to issue a joint statement and our Russian friends held Azzam al-Ahmed responsible [for this failure],” the Hamas official said.

Russia hosted ten Palestinian factions to hold a round of meetings on February 11 and 12 that were intended to promote reconciliation among the Palestinian factions.
