Member of Hamas International Relations Office Basem Naim revealed on Wednesday new mechanisms to fight off the wave of normalisation with the Israeli Occupation.

“Everyone realizes the ramifications of normalising ties between the Israeli Occupation and Arab officials,” Naim said in a press release, adding that some parties have tried to override the Palestinian cause and scramble to normalise ties with the Israeli Occupation with no price in return.     

Naim explained that Hamas made contacts with several Arab officials to discuss normalisation and warn against its negative outcomes on the Palestinian cause.   

 “In every meeting or visit to an Arab or Islamic state, Hamas reiterates that normalisation with the Israeli Occupation isn’t acceptable,” Naim added.  

Commenting on Warsaw conference, Naim said that this summit aimed to show off that some Arab states had made progress in normalisation with the Israeli Occupation.   

Naim added that this wave of normalisation pushed the Palestinians, at the official, popular, factional, political, media levels, to spare no effort to combat this tide and foil it by organizing official and popular activities calling for halting normalisation with the Israeli Occupation.  

 “Normalisation doesn’t aim to foster ties with the Arab states and regimes, but also targets the Arab and Islamic peoples through whitewashing and sportswashing,” Naim continued. 

Naim deplored the justifications made by some Arab countries to normalise ties with the Israeli Occupation, adding that the Palestine cause must remain a core issue for all Arab and Islamic nations.

Forming a coordination body to combat normalisation

Naim said that local institutions and Palestinian factions were working on forming a coordination body, involving members of the Legislative Council, officials from the national factions, youth centers, and civil society organisations, to fight off normalisation and boycott the Israeli Occupation.

Naim noted that the inauguration of this committee would be announced during a press conference in the Israeli Apartheid Week this month.   

Hamas and the EU

Regarding the EU’s decision to put Hamas on its terror list, Naim said that the Israeli lobby pushed the EU to take such a move, noting that Hamas has kept contacts with EU officials and decision makers to reverse this decision.   

Naim stressed that a legal action had been taken to overrule this decision, noting that Hamas is an integral part of the Palestinian people, who embrace the option of resistance.

Concerning the campaigns aimed to boycott the Israeli Occupation culturally, politically, and economically led by the BDS, Naim said that the Israeli Occupation had tried to block this popular action with all means possible. 

“The Israeli Occupation is spreading propaganda in the West about being a civilised, democratic state that respects human rights, but the BDS has exposed the ugly truth about the occupation,” Naim added.

Foreign delegations in Gaza

Naim demonstrated that these visits and meetings with Hamas officials had focused on the humantarian situation in Gaza and the prospects of reaching a ceasefire with the Israeli Occupation.   

Naim confirmed that the Palestinian people would never compromise on their rights, guaranteed under international law, in return for little humantarian aid.     

 “No side could pressure the Israeli Occupation to assume its responsibilities as an occupying force and abide by what has been agreed upon during all ceasefire talks,” Naim concluded.
