The Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh has phoned the Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi and congratulated him for presiding over the 30^th Arab Summit.

The Hamas top official hailed the speech of Essebsi at the summit because it shed special light on the Palestinian issue, which was highlighted in the final statement of the 30^th Arab Summit as well.

Haniyeh briefed Essebsi on the challenges posed to the Palestinian issue, hoping that Tunis would play an important role to support the Palestinian issue and restore national unity.

The Tunisian President, in turn, stated that Tunis unwaveringly supports the Palestinian issue. He also lauded the Palestinian people for their freedom struggle against the Israeli occupation.

Essebsi said that Tunis’ speech at the Arab summit and highlighting the Palestinian issue in the final statement are two important steps, which will prompt other actions in the future.

He also stressed that the Palestinian people should promote reconciliation among each other.
