On the student elections that took place at Birzeit University, Hamas movement states the following:

Hamas movement hails the democracy festival that took place at Birzeit University to elect the student council. The movement stresses that freedom and democracy are the best to allow students to choose their way to liberate their homeland.

As all student blocs have adhered to democracy in spite of the attempts to change the results through arrests by the Palestinian Authority and the Israeli occupation, the students have failed all these bids and brought this democracy festival into success.

Hamas congratulates all student blocs that competed to win the trust of students through adhering to resistance against the Israeli occupation. Particularly, Hamas hails al-Wafa’ Bloc that has overcome all obstacles and faced all challenges. Eventually, it won almost the same number of seats, and this is a real victory amid these bad circumstances created by the PA security forces and the Israeli occupation.

We thank Berziet University for sponsoring the student elections, wishing that the same democratic process would take place at the different Palestinian universities.

Hamas calls on the Palestinian Authority along with all the Palestinian factions to refer to their people in order to elect their representatives at the different institutions and bodies. Hamas reiterates that it honors the results of the elections whatever they are.
