Former Head of Hamas Political Bureau Khalid Meshal, along a delegation from the movement, met on Wednesday evening Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohamad in his office in the country’s administrative capital Putrajaya.

Meshal highlighted the Palestinian status quo and the challenges facing the Palestinian people, especially those related to Jerusalem and its holy sites, judaization plans, settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank and the ongoing Israeli siege on Gaza.

The former Hamas chief discussed with the Malaysian PM the dangers targeting the Palestinian cause, above all the so-called “Deal of the Century.”

While hailing Malaysia’s role in supporting the Palestinian cause and rights, Meshal reiterated the necessity to take firm stances against the plans aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause.

The Malaysian PM, on the other hand, reaffirmed his constant position in supporting the Palestinian people and their just cause and rejecting any political projects that do not meet the Palestinian aspirations and rights.

The Hamas delegation included the movement’s head of Arab and Islamic Relations Office Ezzt al-Rasheq, member of the office Munir Saad, and the movement’s representative in Malaysia Musallem Emran.

The visit was met with a high-stake official interest and included meetings with a number of ministers, officials, and leaders of Malaysian parties.
