Hamas official Ismail Redwan reiterated that Hamas completely rejected the so-called “Deal of the Century” and its components intended to liquidate the Palestinian cause.

Speaking at the Sixth Palestinian National Security Conference in Gaza, Redwan reaffirmed his movement’s opposition to the Bahrain conference, adding that the Palestinian cause is not a humanitarian issue but of a people displaced from their homeland.

While highlighting the regional and international challenges facing the Palestinian cause, including the unlimited US support for the Israeli occupation, Redwan hoped that this conference would come up with a complete vision and a Palestinian work plan to face off the “Deal of the Century”.

Redwan added that Hamas was seeking to end the Palestinian suffering in Gaza due to the Israeli siege on the impoverished territory and fight off the Israeli plans to judaize Jerusalem and annex the West Bank.

The Hamas official called on the Arab states not to participate in the economic conference organised by the US in Bahrain, noting that the US-held conference is doomed to failure as the Palestinian cause is absent in this “workshop”.

In light of these challenges, Redwan reiterated the necessity to agree on a national Palestinian plan to face off the “Deal of the Century”, calling for ending internal division and achieving national reconciliation, based on outcomes of the 2011 Cairo Agreement and the 2019 Beirut Deal, as well as forming a national unity government.

Redwan called for the formation of a unified national council in which all segments of the Palestinian people can participate on the basis of political and national partnership, highlighting the importance of holding presidential, legislative and national council elections.

As he praised this gathering in Gaza, Redwan urged the Palestinian people to continue the Great Return March protests east of Gaza and move the popular, peaceful demonstrations to occupied West Bank and all Palestinian refugee camps around the globe.
