Member of Hamas Political Bureau Husam Badran declared that a delegation from the movement arrived on Monday in the Russian capital, Moscow.
In a press release, Badran explained that the Moscow visit came as part of efforts to boost bilateral relations between Hamas and the Russian government.
The head of the Hamas delegation Dr. Mousa Abu Marzouq said that the Moscow visit came upon the invitation of Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.
Describing the Russian deputy foreign minister as “friend”, Abu Marzouq stressed that he has frequently discussed several issues related to the region, particularly the Palestinian issue, with Bogdanov.
Abu Marzouq added that the Palestinian cause is of great concern to the Russian Foreign Ministry, as it is the key to the Mideast relations, in general.
The Palestinian reconciliation process, the tense situation in Gaza, the Gaza siege, the “deal of the century” and the Bahrain conference, along with Trump’s policy towards the region, in general, and the Palestinian cause, in particular, were among the topics on the table, Abu Marzouq noted.
The senior Hamas official welcomed such visits, praising Moscow for its “constructive policy regarding the Palestinian reconciliation and the unified Palestinian position.”
