Hamas leadership, led by head of the movement’s politburo Ismail Haniyeh and its chief in Gaza Yehya al-Sinwar, met on Monday evening with Palestinian Liberation Organisation factions and resistance movements, along with the Egyptian security delegation.

The meeting discussed several issues, including the bilateral relations with Egypt and how to improve Palestinian-Egyptian ties in a way that serves both people, the Palestinian reconciliation process, and the ways to seek further rapprochements between Palestinian factions to restore national unity, as well as the efforts exerted to alleviate the Israeli siege on Gaza.

The Egyptian delegation, in turn, highlighted Egypt’s complete support to the Palestinian rights and its keenness to mitigate the Palestinian suffering.

The Palestinian factions, on the other hand, expressed their appreciation to the Egyptian efforts, reiterating the importance of achieving an inclusive national reconciliation.

Lauding Egypt’s decision to open Rafah crossing and allowing entry of goods into Gaza, the Palestinian factions called on Egypt to facilitate the travelling of Palestinians in and out of Gaza and settle the issue of Palestinians banned from travel.

Hamas leadership thanked the Egyptian delegation and the Palestinian officials for attending to the meeting.
