Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh sent Saturday a letter of condolence to Indonesian President Joko Widodo over the death of Former President Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie.

“We, in Hamas, received the news of the death of Indonesia’s former president Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie with deep sorrow,” Haniyeh said in the letter.

The Hamas chief expressed his sincere condolences to the Indonesian president and people as well as to the deceased president’s family, wishing that the late president may rest in peace.

The top Hamas official cited the late president’s “honourable” positions and role in defending the just cause of Palestine and supporting the Palestinian struggle for their rights.
