Removing signal jamming devices from Israeli prisons was one of the most important terms of the understandings reached with mediators, member of Hamas Political Bureau Khalil al-Hayya said Sunday.

In a press release, al-Hayya stressed that efforts were being exerted with the UN, Qatari, and Egyptian mediators in this regard.

The deputy Hamas chief in Gaza reiterated the necessity to grant the Palestinian detainees their legitimate rights as war prisoners and remove cellular jamming devices from Israeli prisons.

Al-Hayya reaffirmed that targeting the Palestinian detainees by Israeli occupation authorities would spark a popular Palestinian reaction, adding: “It seems that the occupation doesn’t understand history.”

Saluting Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails, al-Hayya confirmed that he was confident that the prisoners would gain their freedom one day.

“The Palestinian detainees defend their cause and support their people who are standing steadfast on their land and their issue in Israeli prisons,” al-Hayya concluded.

Hundreds of Palestinian detainees have gone on an open-ended hunger strike to protest at Israeli measures against them, including the placement of signal jamming devices, which negatively affect their health.
