Eastern Orthodox Church in Gaza has denied alleged oppression endured by Christians in the Gaza Strip.

In a letter sent to the authorities in Gaza, the church said that the claims made by ex-Christian citizen Kamal Ilias Tursi that Christians are being oppressed by their Muslim brothers are untrue and baseless.

The same letter was sent to top Hamas officials in Gaza Ismail Haniyeh and Yahya Sinwar.

Pastor of the Church Archbishop Alexios highlighted that the church condemns the allegations made by Kamal Tursi in a video and published on social media.

“Christians and Muslims have been living in our city for thousands of years as one family, and they have been bound by fraternity, blood, and love. No one would break such ties,” Archbishop Alexios.
