The religious, national, and moral duties require ever Palestinian to effectively act and break his/her silence towards the issue of Palestinian detainees on hunger strike, Hamas official Wasfi Qubha said Saturday.

In a press release, Qubha called on the official Palestinian level to assume its responsibility towards the Palestinian detainees, especially Ahmad Ghannam, who is in a critical health condition.

The Hamas officials urged Palestinian factions to take on its role towards Palestinian detainees and encourage their members to take part in activities held in support of the Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons

Qubha, former Palestinian Minister of Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs, called on media outlets to shed more light on the issues of Palestinian detainees and support them and their just cause, especially the detainees who are on an open-ended hunger strike in Israeli prisons.  

Six Palestinian detainees, including a Palestinian woman holding the Jordanian nationality, have gone on an open-ended hunger strike in protest at their administrative detention by Israeli occupation authorities.

Israeli occupation authorities are holding approximately 5,700 Palestinian prisoners, including 40 women, 500 administrative detainees, and 700 critically-ill detainees in 23 prions and detention centers. 

Administrative detention is holding Palestinians in prison indefinitely without trial or charge and can be renewed for unlimited times.
