Palestinian election is a genuine right for the Palestinian people in the occupied West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and abroad to elect their leadership, member of Hamas Political Bureau Mousa Abu Marzouq said Monday evening.

On his Twitter account, Abu Marzouq stressed that the Palestinian people have the right to choose their leadership freely and transparently for all representative institutions, including the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO), the Palestinian Authority leadership, and the Legislative Council.

Abu Marzouq stressed that national consensus should be the “basis for holding elections,” noting that Hamas is committed to accept the results whatever they are.

Hanna Nasser, head of the Palestinian Central Elections Committee, is due to visit Gaza at the end of this week, according to the committee’s executive director Hisham Kuhail.

In a statement, Kuhail said that Nasser will hold meetings with Hamas and other Palestinian factions to discuss holding Palestinian election and providing an environment for it.
