A high-ranking Hamas delegation met on Saturday morning with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s special envoy for the Middle East and Africa affairs Mikhail Bogdanov and Russian ambassador to Qatar Nurmakhamad Kholov.

The delegation, led by member of Hamas Political Bureau Mousa Abu Marzouq and included Hamas representative in Moscow Ezzat al-Risheq, briefed Bogdanov on the latest political developments concerning the Palestinian cause.

The Hamas delegation reaffirmed the movement’s stance towards the factional initiative to achieve Palestinian unity and its keenness to handle the national vision positively and flexibly. 

Highlighting the movement’s determination to respond to any initiative aimed at healing the Palestinian division, the delegation explained that the stance taken by Hamas on holding elections goes in line with the public Palestinian attitude to hold inclusive elections. 

The delegation talked about the latest developments related to the Great Return March protests and the harsh living conditions in the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing Israeli siege on the impoverished territory.

During the meeting, both sides expressed their opinions on the latest developments in the region.

In turn, Bogdanov highlighted the importance of achieving national unity between Palestinian sides, highlighting Russia’s constant position in support of the Palestinian people based on the international resolutions on the Palestinian cause.

 The senior Russian official stressed that his country would provide the Palestinians with the necessary support to restore national unity, as this goal is a prominent factor to achieve the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people.
