It’s hard to hold elections unless it is held on the basis of national partnership and respecting the results, member of Hamas Political Bureau Salah al-Bardawil said Sunday evening.

In a press release, al-Bardawil reiterated that Hamas  would receive Hanna Nasser, head of the Palestinian Central Elections Commission, in his visit to Gaza due next week.

Al-Bardawil highlighted the necessity to hold inclusive elections, including the Legislative Council and presidential elections.

The senior Hamas official explained that holding Palestinian elections should come as a result of a complete roadmap outlining a national program that features the Palestinian national system.

Regarding the factional vision on national unity, Al-Bardawil said that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas clearly “evaded” factional initiative to achieve Palestinian reconciliation during his latest address to the United Nations General Assembly.  

“He [PA President Mahmoud Abbas] tried to get in the way of it [factional vision] by introducing an inapplicable idea, which is a snap election not based on understanding and consensus,” al-Bardawil concluded.
