The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has welcomed the European Union's decision to label Israeli settlement products.

In a press release on Thursday, Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said that the decision is a step in the right direction, and added that Hamas hopes that the decision would be comprehensive and include all products and services exported by the occupation, and not confined to settlement products.

Following years of deliberation, the European Union (EU) has issued new guidelines for the labeling of products from illegal Israeli settlements in the Palestinian lands occupied in 1967.
