Head of Hamas in Gaza Yehya al-Sinwar has called for a national summit to “put all issues on the table” to overcome all obstacles facing Palestinian elections.

The meeting should focus a very important issue, which is holding elections in Jerusalem, al-Sinwar said Sunday in a press release.

“The Israeli occupation will try to hamper this big move, as remaining in such state of deadlock serves the occupation,” al-Sinwar continued.

In turn, Hanna Nasser, head of the Central Election Commission, has described his meeting with Hamas and Palestinian factions as “special”, saying: “We’re moving towards the elections and problems will be solved by national consensus.”

Nasser arrived in the Gaza Strip early Sunday morning to resume talks with national and Islamic factions on holding general elections.
