On the renewal of UNRWA mandate at the UN General Assembly, Hamas spokesperson Fawzi Barhoum stated the following:

The decision taken by the UN General Assembly to renew UNRWA mandate with an overwhelming majority will contribute to enhancing the humanitarian conditions of millions of Palestinian refugees. Support for UNRWA is critically important until the Palestinian refugees go back to their hometowns and villages in 1948 by Zionist gangs.

We welcome this move and express our thanks and gratitude to all countries which voted in favor of this decision in spite of enormous Israeli and US pressure.

Such a move highlights the international responsibility towards and commitment to the basic needs of the Palestinian refugees and their misery inflicted upon them due to Israeli practices. On the other hand, the UN’s decision shows that the Palestinian narrative is truthful and the Palestinian rights are recognised clearly by the the world.

Now that the US and Israeli occupation have failed to promote their propaganda, more efforts are still needed at national, regional, and international levels to mobilise support for Palestine and foil all bids to violate the Palestinian’s rights.
