Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh called the Head of the Sebastia Diocese of the Greek Orthodox Church in Jerusalem Archbishop Atallah Hanna after he was hospitalised for treatment in Jordan.

Haniyeh wished Hanna a speedy and full recovery after being poisoned by chemical substances.  

Hanna held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for orchestrating an attempt to poison him a few days ago, after an Israeli gas canister was fired into his church in Jerusalem.

Hanna explained that the substance that he inhaled “is owned by the Israeli occupation and its services and was aimed at assassinating him or keeping him sick for life.”

The top Hamas chief condemned this Israeli crime which is added to a long-standing record of atrocities against the Palestinian people and their religious figures.
