A delegation from Hamas has rounded off its visit to Lebanon with a tour in Ain al-Hilwa refugee camp in the south of the country.

The delegation comprised of head of Hamas’ National Relations Office Husam Badran along with member of Hamas Political Bureau Maher Obied and Hamas representative in Lebanon Ahmad Abdel Hadi.

The senior Hamas delegation started its trip with a visit to some Palestinian neighbourhoods, where it was briefed on the harsh conditions and hardships facing Palestinian refugees, including overcrowding, economic recession, and a lack of basic services.

Furthermore, the Hamas delegation paid visits to a number of destitute Palestinian families, providing them with urgent aid.  

In a meeting in the Palestinian refugee camp, the delegation discussed the situation of Palestinian refugees in Ain al-Hilwa camp with Palestinian factions, thanking them for their strenuous efforts to maintain security and stability in the camp.

The trip was concluded with a visit to Khalid bin al-Waleed complex, in which the Hamas delegation was received by a number of Palestinian political officials and national figures.

Ain al-Hilwa camp’s residents welcomed the Hamas delegation, reiterating that they are sticking to their right to return to their homeland.

The Hamas delegation, on the other hand, hailed Ain al-Hilwa camp’s residents for standing steadfast and resilient in the face of all serious challenges that the Palestinian refugee issue is going through.

Speaking at a popular and factional meeting, Badran reaffirmed the necessity to end the intra-Palestinian division, restructure the Palestinian home, and restore national unity to fight off the grave challenges facing the Palestinian cause, particularly the “deal of the century”.

Noting that Lebanon’s Palestinian refugees are living in harsh conditions, Badran called for providing aid and assistance to the Palestinian refugees, pointing out that alleviating their sufferings and hardships is a top priority for Hamas. 

Badran lauded the joint Palestinian efforts exerted to preserve security in Lebanon’s Palestinian refugee camps and their Lebanese surroundings.

Obied, in turn, reaffirmed that a true national unity is the starting point to agree on a national strategy to face off the Trump plan and achieve national accomplishments.

The five-day visit included a summit with secretary generals of Palestinian factions and a bilateral meeting with Islamic Jihad, in addition to a gathering of political factions and popular committees in Lebanon.
