Hamas official Rafat Morra has deplored a call by Samir Geagea, head of the Lebanese Forces party, to isolate Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon amid coronavirus fears as “unacceptable and inefficient.”
In a tweet on Saturday, Morra explained that Geagea’s call “runs afoul of humanitarian and legal rules.”
“Geagea should have called on the Lebanese government and the United Nations to assume their responsibilities [towards Lebanon’s Palestinian refugees],” added Morra.
As part of measures suggested to combat the coronavirus outbreak in Lebanon, Geagea called for imposing a “siege” on Palestinian refugee camps and ban the refugees’ movement in and out of the camps in the country.
