Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh expressed his solidarity with the Iranian people in their battle against the coronavirus epidemic.
In a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohmmad Javad Zarif on Saturday evening, Haniyeh denounced the US sanctions against the Iranian people as “unfair”, calling for an end to the measures imposed on Iran.
Haniyeh offered his condolences over the death of Hussein Sheikh Al-Islam, an adviser to the foreign affairs minister, and parliamentarians and Iranians who died from the novel coronavirus.
The Hamas chief called for medical equipment and hygiene supplies to be provided for the Palestinian people at home and in the diaspora to combat the COVID-19 epidemic.
The Iranian Foreign Minister, in turn, thanked Haniyeh for his call, reiterating his country’s position in support of the Palestinian people and resistance.
Amid the coronavirus outbreak, Zarif called for ending the 13-year Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip and releasing all Palestinian detainees from Israeli prisons.
