Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh has sent a letter of condolences to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on the death of two army generals from the coronavirus. 

“We, in Hamas, received with deep sorrow and acceptance of Allah’s decree the news of the death of Major General Khaled Shaltout and Major General Shafea Abdel Halim Dawoud,” Haniyeh said in the letter.

On this tragic occasion, Haniyeh continued, we offer our sincere condolences to the Egyptian Armed Forces and families of the deceased generals along with the Egyptian people on the death of Shaltout and Dawoud.

Haniyeh expressed his movement’s full support for Egypt in the battle against the coronavirus outbreak, hoping that Egypt and the whole world could overcome the COVID-19 epidemic.
