Israeli ‘abominable attempts’ to change the identity of Palestine are bound to fail, head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh said on Monday evening.
In a statement on the 44th anniversary of Palestine Land Day, Haniyeh saluted the Palestinian people for sticking to their land while facing off Israeli schemes to judaise and eradicate the Palestinian Arab identity of their lands.
“The Land Day reminds us that the Trump’s plan and his desperate attempts to legitimise the occupation of any piece of our land will not work out nor will they dissuade our people from continuing their legitimate fight to restore all of their rights,” Haniyeh added.
Haniyeh stressed that the Palestinian people would remain united against the Israeli occupation.
“There’s no difference between the Palestinians who struggle to regain their lands and the ones living in the 1948 occupied territories, and between the ones defending Jerusalem and al-Aqsa or others living in the West Bank and the besieged Gaza Strip, and the ones residing in camps in Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, and in diaspora,” Haniyeh continued, “The compass will always be pointed towards Palestine.”
The Hamas chief reiterated his movement’s commitment to endorsing Palestinian rights and supporting the Palestinian people’s struggle with all means possible until they return to their homeland and establish their independent sovereign state.
As for the coronavirus outbreak in Palestine, Haniyeh said that the Palestinian people have become accustomed to overcoming challenges and hardships caused by the Israeli occupation are capable of battling COVID-19 epidemic.
