Deputy Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniya said Jerusalem Intifada has more to accomplish in light of Israeli admitting of the long lasting period of the ongoing uprising, and their acknowledgement of the need of many options to deal with it.

In his participation in the scholars’ forum organized by Palestine Scholars Association and the World Federation of Muslim Scholars in Gaza on Saturday, Haniya pointed out that the intifada achieved significant accomplishments, including the cancellation of the theory of adaptation with the Israeli occupation.

“The Jerusalem Intifada has also proved the failure of the Israeli theory of deterrence through over 87 anti-occupation operations implemented in the West Bank and Occupied Jerusalem; yet, it has more to accomplish,” he highlighted.

Haniya said that intifada is the antithesis of Oslo process, stressing the failure of the policies of security coordination and economic peace with the occupation.

He referred to Kerry’s latest visit to the region, noting that it shows the scale of efforts that aim to abort the intifada.

“He who calls the intifada terrorism is a terrorist and a sponsor of occupation.” Haniya said.

Haniya said that amidst ongoing sectarian conflicts, the intifada has highlighted the real enemy of the Umma, calling for unity in the region and exerting efforts for the liberation of Palestine, and hailing the role of Muslim scholars in uniting the nation for this sake.
