The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has congratulated the Lebanese leadership and people over the successful swap and safe return of Lebanese soldiers held by the Syrian Nusra group.

In a press statement, Hamas representative in Lebanon Ali Baraka extended the Movement’s congratulations to the families of released soldiers, hoping for the safe return of other remaining detainees.

Baraka stressed the importance of maintaining civil peace and concord, noting that it represents a mutual interest shared by both Lebanese and Palestinians in Lebanon.

On Tuesday 16 police officers and soldiers captured by the Syrian Nusra Front were released in exchange for 13 prisoners held by Lebanon.
