On the news about a breakthrough in the prisoner exchange negotiations with the Israeli occupation brokered by Egypt, member of Hamas International Relations Office Dr. Basem Naim stated the following:

I strongly deny that I have held an interview with Egyptian media outlet “Almasry Alyoum” or with any other media outlets based inside or outside of Palestine and given any statements about the prisoner swap deal with the Israeli occupation.

Therefore, I deplore using my name to fake media reports based on a fabricated interview with me.

I call on the Egyptian newspaper to be committed to honesty and work ethics and seek the truth, especially when covering sensitive issues such as Palestinian detainees, whose cause affects thousands of freedom fighters and their families.
