Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh received on Friday evening a phone call from Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif who expressed his solidarity with the Palestinian people following an agreement between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Israeli occupation to normalise relations.

During the call, Zarif restated his country’s support for the Palestinian people, reiterating the Islamic Republic’s rejection to this deal.

The Iranian minister reaffirmed the necessity to continue cooperation between all Palestinian factions and restore intra-Palestinian unity to face off the challenges posed to the Palestinian cause.

Thanking the Iranian FM for his call, Haniyeh hailed the Iranian leadership and people’s position towards Palestinian rights.

The head of Hamas Political Bureau denounced the Emirati-Israeli deal as a “stab in the back of our Palestinian people,” confirming that this move would only push the Palestinians to stick to their lands, rights, and holy sites.

Hamas is ready to spare no effort to restore Palestinian unity and boost joint national work to face off the strategic threat facing the Palestinian cause and national constants, Haniyeh concluded.
