The Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas warned on Tuesday that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s Middle East tour aimed to boost normalisation.
In a press release, Taher al-Nunu, media adviser for Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh, said that Pompeo’s visit to the region aims to open the door for normalisation “under various and new names.”
He cited the prospective US-sponsored normalisation conference planned to be held in the region with many Arab states expected to attend along with Israeli delegations.
Al-Nunu called on all Arab countries not to deal with these “dangerous” attempts to normalise ties with the Israeli occupation, noting that these measures represent “silent implementation of the deal of the century, which liquidates the Palestinian cause and integrates the Israeli occupation into the region.”
He stressed that normalisation whitewashes the black image of the Israeli occupation and encourages it to continue its crimes against the Palestinian people and go further in breaching their rights.
The normalisation, he added, gives the Israeli occupation an opportunity to intervene in the internal affairs of the Arab nations and fuel the internal differences among them in a way that serves its colonial and expansionist policies and interests.
