Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh and a senior Hamas delegation has met with Speaker of the Parliament of Lebanon Nabih Berri to discuss development concerning the Palestinian issue.
The Hamas chief highlighted the dangers and threats facing the Palestinian cause, especially the Deal of the Century, the annexation plan, and normalization agreements between the Israeli occupation and some Arab countries, reiterating the Palestinian consensual position against such deals.
Haniyeh congratulated Berri on success to kick off consultations of forming the new Lebanese government, expressing the movement’s solidarity with Lebanon following the devastating explosion in Beirut.
The top Hamas delegation stressed that the Palestinians have taken a unified position to reject and resist all projects targeting the Palestinian issue.
“Land, Jerusalem, right to rerun, freedom of detainees held in Israeli jails are Palestinian constants that cannot be compromised,” he added.
The Palestinian people living in Lebanon are just guests in the country who will be back to their hometowns and villages they were expelled from in 1948, Haniyeh said.
“Therefore, the Palestinian refugees reject to be granted citizenship in the country… and the Palestinian refugee camps will remain an icon of security and stability,” he continued.
The Hamas chief mentioned that the Palestinians don’t interfere in the domestic affairs of Lebanon.
Thanking Lebanon for hosting the meeting of the secretary-generals of the Palestinian factions, Haniyeh mentioned that he is looking forward to attending the meeting and wished that it would be successful.
