The Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas has given Israeli occupation two months ultimatum to implement ceasefire deal mediated by Qatar, Member of Hamas Political Bureau Dr Khalil al Hayya said on Wednesday.

“We have achieved some of the Palestinian aspirations through the ceasefire understandings reached two days ago without paying any political price in return,” Al Hayya told Al Aqsa TV.

He added: “What we agreed upon is not what the Palestinians are looking for. We are seeking to put an end to the 14-year Israeli siege imposed on Gaza, as well as the Israeli occupation.”

Meanwhile, he said that his movement was in contact with all the Palestinian factions and briefed them about the terms of the deal. 

Al Hayya hailed the Egyptian mediation, pointing out that the Israeli occupation undermined through its persistence to ignore it obligations. “So that, the Egyptian delegation stepped down,” he said.

“Then, the Qataris stepped up and expressed their willingness to double their financial aid for the besieged Gaza Strip,” the senior Hamas leader said.  

“Under the new deal,” Al Hayya said, “Qatar pledged to renew and increase its cash aid to the blockaded Gaza Strip.”

About the Israeli occupation, he said, “it agreed to ease restrictions on the imports and exports, open the fishing zone, accelerate the construction of the industrial zone, facilitate implementation of job creation programmes, carrying out water desalination plants and improving electricity supplies.”

Regarding the fight against the coronavirus, he said that his movement is putting all of its abilities in the hands of the government to help fighting the pandemic.

Al Hayya said that the meeting of the Palestinian factions in Beirut aimed to lay down the basis of true partnership among all the Palestinian factions and reform the PLO.

Commenting on the UAE-Israeli normalization deal, he urged the rulers of the Gulf State to backtrack on this move which “will be referred to as a black page in the country’s history.”

He slammed this visit of the Israeli delegation to the UAE as a “stab in the back of the Palestinian people, who have been slaughtered by the Israeli occupation for more than seven decades.”
