Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh stressed on Wednesday to Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Hassan Diab that his movement does not accept displacement or resettlement of Palestinians.

Haniyeh’s remarks came during his visit along with a number of senior Hamas leaders to Diab at his office in Beirut.

In a press release following the meeting, Haniyeh said that he briefed Diab on the arrangements being made to hold a meeting for secretary generals of all Palestinian factions.

Expressing his gratitude for Lebanon for hosting this meeting, Haniyeh hoped that this summit would herald a new stage in the intra-Palestinian relations.

Meanwhile, the top Hamas leader voiced his solidarity with Lebanon following the tragic blast in the Port of Beirut, wishing a fast and full recovery for all the wounded.

“Lebanon is capable of overcoming such challenges and the Palestinian people at home and abroad, especially in Lebanon, share their grief with it,” he said.

During the meeting, they discussed the latest development on the Palestinian stage, including the deal of the century and the normalisation deal between the UAE and the Israeli occupation.

Haniyeh stressed that his movement had rejected all such projects and restated its commitment to upholding Palestinian constants and rights, including the right of return for the Palestinian refugees.

He reiterated his movement’s objection to any proposal intended to resettle or displace the Palestinian people, saying: “This is our political position which we will continue sticking to until the return of all Palestinian refugees.”
