Normalisation agreements with Israeli occupation perpetuates its hegemony over the Arab world, Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh warned on Saturday.

In a press statement held following his meeting with the Secretary-General of Al-Jama'ah Al-Islamiyyah in Lebanon, Azzam al-Ayoubi, Haniyeh warned the Arab states about the normalisation of ties with the Israeli occupation or allowing it to penetrate into the region in any form.

He pointed out that there is a Palestinian consensus that the US deal of the century, which aims to liquidate the Palestinian cause, is not at all a potential way to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian struggle.

The meeting with Al-Ayoubi focused on the developments concerning the Palestinian cause and other issues related to the Arab region, which have strategic dimensions. 

About the Israeli annexation plan, Haniyeh reiterated that it is part of a series of projects which “will never alter the religious, historical, geographical and demographic facts in Palestine and Jerusalem, including Muslim and Christian holy sites.

“During our visit to Lebanon, we found full support for the resistance option,” Haniyeh said, stressing that “this option is the only way that could lead to the liberation of Palestine and Jerusalem.”

Haniyeh also discussed the harsh conditions facing the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, restating his movement’s rejection to any plan aimed to resettle them or accept Lebanon as an alternative homeland.

The top Hamas leader also stressed on the importance that the Palestinian refugees must enjoy dignified life where they are temporarily living whether in Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt or anywhere else.
