Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh, accompanied by a senior delegation, visited on Monday chairman of Lebanese Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) Walid Jumblatt in his home in Beirut.

In addition to Haniyeh, the meeting was attended by Hamas chief abroad Maher Salah, head of Hamas’ Arab and International Relations office Ezzat al-Rasheq, and deputy chief of Hamas’ Arab and International Relations Office Osama Hamadan, as well as Hamas representative in Lebanon Ahmad Abdel Hadi.

During the meeting, Haniyeh stressed that his movement is keen to preserve security and stability in Lebanon, hailing Jumblatt for his stances in support of the Palestinian cause, rights of Lebanon’s Palestinian refugees, and intra-Palestinian unity.

Restating his movement’s commitment to preserving Palestinian constants and historical rights, Haniyeh described his movement’s relations with all Lebanese segments as “unique and balanced.”

Hamas, Haniyeh reiterated, does not interfere in Lebanon’s internal affairs and is always working on developing close Palestinian-Lebanese ties.

The Hamas chief reaffirmed his movement’s rejection to any normalisation process or projects aimed to liquidate the Palestinian cause, foremost among them is the “deal of the century” and Israeli annexation plans.
