The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas slammed on Wednesday the daily raids by Israeli settlers into the al-Aqsa Mosque and the installment of speakers and sensors on its walls as an “aggression against our people and their holy sites.”

In a press release, Hamas spokesperson Abdel Latif al-Qanoa said that restricting the access of Palestinian worshippers to the al-Aqsa Mosque and installing sensors at the Muslim sacred compound came as part of an attempt to take over and Judaise the al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem.

Israeli violations against Jerusalem surged following the normalisation agreement between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Israeli occupation, al-Qanoa stressed.

The UAE-Israeli deal, al-Qanoa continued, has encouraged the Israeli occupation to commit more crimes and attacks against the Palestinians and their holy sites and move forward with its colonial schemes.

Al-Qanoa pointed out that the joint national work and the unified national strategy against the Israeli occupation, which Hamas is seeking to formulate, are capable of defending the Palestinian people and their holy sites, including the al-Aqsa Mosque.

 “The escalating measures and daily assaults against Jerusalem and the al-Aqsa Mosque require the participants in the Arab League meeting to assume their duties and responsibilities towards Jerusalem and support our people against the Israeli occupation,” al-Qanoa concluded.
