Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh, accompanied by a delegation of senior officials, visited on Tuesday afternoon the Palestinian embassy in Beirut.

During the visit, Haniyeh phoned Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, reiterating the necessity to proceed with and reinforce the steps taken during last week’s meeting of Palestinian secretaries-general.

Haniyeh was received by the Palestinian ambassador to Lebanon Ashraf Dabour and Fatah Secretary-General in Lebanon Fathi Abu al-Aradat, along with other Fatah officials in the country.

Haniyeh stressed the need for a unified Palestinian position to face off the “deal of the century”, Israeli annexation plans, and normalisation with the Israeli occupation, especially as this visit coincided with a ceremony in Washington to sign normalisation deals with some Arab countries.

Lauding all efforts being exerted to restore the intra-Palestinian unity and restructure the Palestinian House, Haniyeh called for formulating a unified national strategy based on national unity and inclusive resistance in all forms and an Arab-Islamic-international front supportive of the Palestinian cause and against the “deal of the century” and the normalisation process.

The Hamas chief urged for restricting the internal Palestinian House by activing the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) and electing a Palestinian National Council that represents all Palestinians at home and abroad, confirming that the Palestinians are capable of foiling all plots orchestrated to liquidate their just cause.
