The Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas hailed on Sunday evening Palestinian detainee Maher al-Akhras for remaining consistent in his hunger strike to protest his administrative detention.

“The detainee Maher al-Akhras, who is entering the third month of his hunger strike in protest at his administrative detention, represents the image of steadfastness and challenge of a people fight for their freedom and dignity,” Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qasem wrote on Twitter.

Qasem stressed that al-Akhras’s determination to achieve his demands reflects “the Palestinians’ ability to resist under any circumstances and in various ways.”
