The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas offers its congratulations to Palestinian teachers at home and in diaspora, particularly in occupied Jerusalem, on the occasion of World Teacher’s Day.

Palestinian teachers have been contributing to the creation of a Palestinian generation who believe in Palestinian national rights and constants, as well as preserve the past generations’ mindset in light of the Israeli occupation, in particular those born and brought up after the era of Oslo Accords.

They have planted a deep sense of belonging to historic Palestine and Jerusalem into Palestinian students’ minds and that the liberation of Palestine can only be achieved through resistance and making sacrifices at any cost for the Palestinian people, homeland and holy sites.     

Hamas stresses that embracing the option of resistance is the first step towards regaining the Palestinian rights and the liberation of Palestine.

This is what Palestinian teachers have succeeded to achieve despite the massive challenges facing them, including being arrested or targeted by the Israeli occupation.

Some of Palestinian teachers were killed, imprisoned or injured by the Israeli occupation army while dedicating their efforts and sacrificing their time to pave the way for freedom, independence and prosperity.

Thus, we reiterate the necessity to grant Palestinian teachers their career and syndicate rights. 

We also urge Palestinian teachers to exert more efforts amid a fierce Israeli aggression on the Palestinians and their lands and as some Arab states not only normalise but also make alliances with the Israeli occupation.

Hamas calls on Palestinian teachers to raise Palestinian students’ awareness and love for Palestine and Jerusalem and inform them of the seriousness of the Zionist project on not only the Arab region but the entire world.   

Teaching is an uphill task and has become of supreme importance amid the coronavirus pandemic as teachers are exerting strenuous efforts to help students adjust to distance learning.

Hamas expresses its sincere gratitude and thanks to Palestinian teachers for their faithful efforts for the sake of Palestine and its resilient people.
