The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas hailed on Wednesday a call by Amnesty International for Saudi authorities to release Hamas official Mohammed al-Khoudri and his son Hani from its prisons.

In a statement, Hamas Spokesperson Abdel Latif al-Qanoa reiterated his movement’s call for Saudi Arabia to release al-Khoudri, whose life is at serious risk amid the wide spread of coronavirus pandemic. 

Al-Qanoa’s remarks came following a series of tweets by Amnesty International urging Saudi King Salman ben Abdulaziz to release al-Khoudri and his son “without restrictions or conditions.”

Al-Khoudri, 81, and his son Hani have been held captive in Saudi prisons for more than a year and a half over claims of supporting Hamas.

However, al-Khoudari had been an official Hamas contact person with the Saudi authorities for years before he resigned ten years ago.
