The Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas said that handing a new administrative detention order to Hamas official Sheikh Hassan Yousef violates all international and humanitarian laws.

In a press release, Hamas Spokesperson Abdel Latif al-Qanoa stressed that holding Yousef for  new six months in administrative detention is a “desperate attempt to undermine any effort exerted by Sheikh Hassan to achieve reconciliation and national unity.”

Al-Qanoa explained that Yousef is a prominent national, which prompts the Israeli occupation to arrest him and repeatedly incarcerate him in administrative detention.

Sheikh Yousef has been jailed for more than 20 years in Israeli prisons, al-Qanoa pointed out.

The Hamas spokesperson called on international human rights group to pile pressure on the Israeli occupation to end its administrative detention policy against Palestinian detainees and release Sheikh Yousef.
