The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas said that the Palestinian Authority (PA)’s decision to accept tax revenues after the deduction of millions of shekels in stipends for Palestinian detainees undermines their struggle and weaken steadfastness of their families.

In a statement, Hamas Spokesperson Abdel Latif al-Qanoa said that the Israeli occupation has walked out of its agreements with the PA and deducted the salaries of the detainees from the taxes shortly after the PA had announced restoring ties with the Israeli occupation.

Al-Qanoa denounced this move as a “piracy which must be strongly rejected by the PA.”

Hamas spokesperson called on the PA to backtrack on its decision to resume ties and security coordination with the Israeli occupation.

“The stipends paid to the heroic Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons is a legal and humanitarian right for them and their families,” al-Qanoa stressed.

He stressed that this decision “will not break the prisoners’ will, as well as will of our people in their continuous struggle against the occupation.”
