The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has firmly condemned the Israeli abduction on Sunday of Palestinian MP Hatem Qufeishah and former minister Issa al-Ja'bari from their homes in Hebron.

In a press statement, Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri confirmed that the abductions will not deter the Movement from participating in or supporting the Jerusalem intifada.

 Abu Zuhri also condemned the torching by masked men of MP Hatem Qufeishah’s vehicle, noting that the incident took place less than 2 hours before his abduction by Israeli occupation forces IOF.

“The PA police declined to answer MP Qufeishah’s distressed calls and refused to interfere,” the statement continued.

He said that the double assaults raise several questions, since they were carried out only few hours after a series of statements by Fatah officials threatened to attack Hamas leaders in the occupied West Bank.

The Israeli occupation forces at dawn Sunday kidnapped the Palestinian MP Hatem Qufeishah and the former Palestinian minister Issa al-Ja'bari, from their family homes in city of Hebron.

The 2 figures were kidnapped just few hours after supporters of Majed Faraj, the head of the PA General Intelligence Service in Bethlehem, threatened to assassinate Hamas leaders in the West Bank.

Few days earlier, Faraj admitted the PA security apparatuses foiled 200 anti-occupation attacks and arrested over 100 Palestinian activists since the start of the Jerusalem intifada in October.
