Hamas mourns the death of Palestine martyr Mahmoud Omar Kmail, 17, who was shot dead by Israeli occupation forces in the Bab Hitta of Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.

We salute the martyr’s family and residents of Qabatiya for embracing resistance against the Israeli occupation.

We stress that the resistance option is capable of deterring the Israeli occupation and putting an end to Israeli assaults against our lands and holy sites in occupied Jerusalem, foremost among them Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Provocative acts by Israeli settlers and their raids into Al-Aqsa Mosque and attempts to impose a new fait accompli in the Muslim sacred compound should be met with a resistant action by the Palestinian people.

Kmail’s blood, which was spelled at a gate of the al-Aqsa Mosque, conveys a message to all normalisers that our Palestinian people will remain committed to defending the Muslim holy complex and that normalisation of ties with the Israeli occupation will not undermine the Palestinians’ determination to defend their rights and holy sites.
