Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh offered on Wednesday evening his condolences on the death of Sayyed Abdel Ghani, head of Egypt’s Arab Nasserite Democratic Party and assistant secretary-general of the Arab Lawyers Union.

In a phone call, Haniyeh consoled Husam Jamal ad-Din, the party’s group secretary, and the deceased’s family, who was a national figure supportive of the Palestinian cause.

Abdel Ghani, who served as head of the Arab Lawyers Union’s Palestine Committee, had been monitoring Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people, and held several conferences, forums and meetings in order to form a global campaign, at the level of official and NGO groups, to work on ending the Israeli occupation of Palestine.
