The Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas mourns 17-year-old Palestinian martyr Atallah Rayyan, who was fatally shot by Israeli occupation forces near the illegal settlement of Ariel built on Palestinian land in the West Bank city of Salfit.

We salute the martyr’s family and residents of Salfit who are facing off illegal settlement activity and the Israeli occupation government’s attempts to enforce a demographic change. 

The increasing raids against Palestinian towns and villages and terrorising their residents reflect worries about the surge of popular and armed resistance against the Israeli occupation, which undermines the settler-colonial project in the West Bank and disrupt the calculations of Israeli leaders.     

We hail Palestinian citizens of the West Bank who are determined to resist the Israeli occupation night and day, which confirms that they have embraced the option of resistance.
