The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement debunked on Wednesday speculation raised by report on The Times about its relations with Turkey.

In a press statement, Hamas official Sami Abu Zohri said that the allegations made in the report are “baseless,” stressing that the relationship between Ankara and the Palestinian factions “is good and stable.”

The reports claiming that the ties between Hamas and Turkey have been tense are backed by Israeli lobby groups and aim to undermine the bilateral relations between both sides, Abu Zohri pointed out.

“Hamas is used to such inciting reports against its relations and connections on Arab and Islamic scales, even at the international level,” Abu Zohri said.

“They are usually made by sides that use suspicious, baseless and fake sources,” he added.

The Times report, which was published two days ago, alleged that Turkey had sent a message to Hamas regarding its stay and activities on its soil, in a purported reference to a shift in Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s policy towards the Palestinian resistance movement.
