The Palestinian factions has agreed on the mechanism to hold the Palestinian National Council, the parliamentarian and presidential elections.
In the wake of concluding the first round of Palestinian factions’ talks in Cairo, Member of Hamas Political Bureau Dr Khalil Al-Hayya stated the following:
The Palestinian factions has agreed on the mechanism to hold the Palestinian National Council, the parliamentarian and presidential elections.
The Palestinian factions agreed on the formation of elections court which will have an exclusive jurisdiction over the Palestinian elections. Any other courts will be neutralised.
The Palestinian factions agreed to guarantee freedom of speech and carrying out electoral campaigns across the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
They also agreed on the political grounds for the elections.
The Palestinian factions also agreed to return to Cairo next month to discuss how to form the new Palestinian national council by elections.
